It's finally the June Hols.. This hols, I travelled to Phuket, ClubMed!!!
Phuket Day 1My first time on a Silk Air plane and everything was good. We got the seats which are near the emergency exit and therefore, my leg can move in any direction which I wanted to. Breakfast on plane was Mee Siam and Omelette. However, I had a very sumptous BK breakfast before boarding the plane. Thus, I didnt take the breakfast given to us.Upon arriving at Phuket Airport, a staff who was stationed there picked us up and we travelled to the resort via a mini van. There were two other Singaporeans and two ang mohs. Fell asleep halfway through the 50 minutes ride. I am a pig in disguise! There were ice tea, ice water and wet towel for us when we stepped into the lobby of the resort. One of the staff explained to us the facilities and activities available at ClubMed Phuket before bringing us to our room.~Our Room~
After resting for awhile, we went for lunch! One of the responsibilities of their staff is to have their meals together with the guests. So we got to talk to a few staff during our stay there. I was totally amazed at the variety of food they served!!! There are western cuisine, chinese cuisine, vegeterian cuisine, japanese cuisine and sometimes indian/thai cuisine. Lots of desserts, fruits, salads. I was totally spoilt for choices!

After lunch, we went out of the resort to talk a walk along the streets. They were quiet with fewpedestrains and vehicles. Barcadi was sold at 59 Bahts ($2.30) per bottle and they have lots of flavours! We bought the strawberry, black currant and pineapple flavours for those are not found in Singapore. The strawberry one is the nicest of all three! Ice cream are cheap with Magnum selling at $1+. Everything in the 7-eleven are cheaper as compared to Singapore.
Archery was next. Didnt go for it as I dont want to be sent to Phuket Hospital and get my shoulder fixed back there. Boohoo..
Then we went to explore Kata Beach, a beach just a stone throw away from ClubMed. It is beautiful!! No rubbish on the beach, water is pretty clear, sands are fine and the scenary is further beautified with the waves.. It was the first time I got to see such a beautiful beach...

I'm getting alittle tired. Life as a contract teacher and as a practicum teacher seems to be so different. Lesson plan, lesson observations, thinking of ways to make lessons interesting.. Getting more and more tired and sick of all these. 3 more weeks to the end of practicum. 13 days of school days, 11 days of teaching days, 1 more observation. I have been telling myself it will be over soon! By right, I would have finished my last observation last Friday. I was looking forward to it because I just want it to be over and done with. Now, I have to wait till 25 April for my last observation to be over. ARGGG. Hate it! Everyday seems to pass by so quickly that I cant seem to have much time for myself. I KO-ed at 9 almost everyday last week! Hopefully this week will be better. Well, on a brighter note, next week is a short week. Busy Monday-Wednesday, slack thursday and long weekend! Hooray!
Life is more fulfilling and meaningful now as compared to NIE days. However, I feel so restricted when all my lessons are observed by my mentors. I prefer my contract teaching days. I like the feeling of having classes right from the start of the school year, to set my own rules and routines for my classes, to build rapport with them right from the start, not having to follow my mentor's styles, pick up from where they left or stop at and having difficulty to change what I expect MY students to behave as they have already been framed by my mentors. 5 more weeks to go! 7 observations down and 3 more to go. Definitely can be much better in terms of classroom management and lesson delivery! I prefer to teach the classes I taught last year. But well, I still love to hang out with my students! I guess its this feeling that makes me want to be in this profession. Gogogo!!!
Saying bye to NIE for the next 10 weeks...
5.5 months.. 11 modules.. Approximately 30 assignments.. 3.5 months in hall.. 3 weeks of hols.. Now, its over. I can still remember clearly how I used to complain about school. How I want to go back to teaching badly. Now, its time to go bad to school for practicum..
Half a year of being a student and not a teacher. Half a year of not seeing my students and Im wondering if they still remember me. Half a year of not working close with my colleagues. All these give me a mixed feelings of going back to teaching.
Posted back to the same school. Mixed feelings. Good and bad. Good for the students are really nice and pretty well disciplined. Good for being able to work in a familiar environment with people whom I already know. Bad for the school has high expectations of teachers. Bad for my mentors will definitely expect me to perform better than before.
10 weeks of crazy maddness. Lesson plans, 10 lesson observations, 1 class of maths and 2 classes of ebs (luckily the sec 4 class is doing coursework now).. Looking forward to this and yet, feeling alittle stress and frighten. Well, i will definitely do my best and make sure I dont short-change anyone of my students. Gogogo!
The start of a new beginning, a new year, the year 2011..The year 2010 was definitely a one filled with lots of memorable moments, both happy and sad..
I derived alot of satisfaction from the short stay in WRS this year when I was officially given classes to teach alone. Though alot of time, efforts and sweats were put in, I never regretted doing all the things I had done for the kids. The happiest moment in 2010 was probably when I collated my kids Mid Year Exam results when both my Sec 1 Express classes achieved 100% passes and 75% distinction, my Sec 2 NT class achieved 100% passes and my EBS class which perform not that bad although their results were not as good as their seniors. The time with my form class 1E1 for half a year and 1T7 for 3 months, the time with my Netball girls.. I can still remember some of the time with them clearly.. Oh yah.. And not forgetting the bond with some of my colleagues..
The time in NIE was madness but nevertheless, I did learn some things from those modules. To be truthful, I did gain knowledge and skills which I believe will be helpful in my teaching career. However, I definitely dont like how some of the tutors deliver their lessons, especially when they are teaching the future teachers how to be a effective and good teacher.
The Meleka trip, the sentosa trip, the batam trip, and the zoo trip in December ended my year 2010 wonderfully.
I would like to give thanks to all who have brought me joy and laughter and added colours to my life in the year 2010.
Let's welcome the year 2011 with open arms and embrace all the challenges which we be facing in this year bravely. May each day be filled with happiness and may all of us remain pink in health in this new year.
Happy New Year!!! =)
One more month...
One more month and I will be free of assignments.
One more month and I will be free from lots of lessons.
One more month and I will be gaining more freedom.
One more month to endure.
I cant wait for this one more month to pass.
After that one more month, I can do whatever I like.
After that one more month, I can sleep, play and slack.
After that one more month, I can look forward to my short getaway trips.
One more month to go.
I cant wait for this one more month to pass.
